If you have done the ‘Role of a Return to Work Coordinator’ 2 day Worksafe Accredited training and are still feeling a bit stuck or would just like more knowledge on how to successfully manage WorkCover claims then Going Beyond the Basics is for you. Or perhaps you have not done the 2 day training but already have some experience in WorkCover and return to work but just need some help refining your skills then this is the course for you.  

The course has been designed using the most up to date information available to assist you to get the best return to work outcomes for both your business and your injured worker. My many years of experience in the Workcover and return to work industry has allowed me to provide you with firsthand experience about what works and what doesn’t and what will benefit all parties equally, because if an injured worker does not get back to work, there really are no winners.

The course is designed to dive deep into what it takes to become a successful RTW Coordinator. It will give you access to information that you usually only get from years in the industry giving you access to case studies, real life examples and flow charts so you can fully understand the information and how you can use it with success in your workplace.

Who would benefit from this training?

  • Return to Work Coordinators, Employers, Managers and Supervisors.
  • This course provides participants with detailed information to assist them facilitate the successful return to work of injured workers in accordance with the Workplace Injury Re-habilitation Compensation Act 2013.

Learning outcomes

Day 1

  • Explain why return to work is important.
  • Prepare your workplace for return to work.
  • Provide a detailed account of the responsibilities of a Return to Work Coordinator, including the key strengths expected in this role.
  • Explain your employer’s return to work obligations – providing employment, planning, return to work, consulting, making return to work information available to workers and nominating return to work coordinators.
  • Understand how to make return to work arrangements.
  • Provide background information regarding the scheme and relevant legislation that will assist them in providing advice to employers.

Day 2

  • Provide support to the injured worker in the workplace through the use of a variety of methods, techniques and tools.
  • Respond to workplace injuries to provide support to injured workers, and to prevent further injuries.
  • Explain the involvement of external parties involved in return to work and methods for effective communication with them.
  • Identify sources of assistance that can help you to fulfil the responsibilities of the Return to Work Coordinator role.
  • List resources and publications that reference return to work, the role of the employer, injured worker and Return to Work Coordinator.
